Cracking Adobe Photoshop is relatively easy, but there are some factors to consider. You’ll need to locate a cracked version of the software. Auto levels are a great tool for “nibbling” information out of a photograph. They are also a good way of getting a correct exposure. The program should, however, work well with the types of files it is designed to work with. For example, I recently used Elements to fix a file where the setting I had chosen to convert the file to JPG had caused a loss of contrast. The author of the file had said that loss was required for him to open the file, but that was not apparent. (I am not a user of RAW, but I am a very familiar user of JPEG.)

When it comes to RAW conversions, I have to confess that I don’t use Darktable or Rawtherapee because I find the result to be less than perfect. Both are entirely open source, though. Adobe Photoshop, on the other hand, is simply not an alternative for me.
